Peyton Manning wins 4th NFL MVP Award!

Peyton Manning became the only player ever to win 4 MVP awards, breaking a tie with Brett Favre, who won the MVP 3 times. The MVP race was surprisingly not very close at all; Manning ( who was 2nd in NFL in passing yds, 2nd in NFL in Td passes) received 39.5 votes, Brees (who led the league in passer rating and Td passes) only received 7.5 votes, Phillip Rivers( who threw for 28 TDs and lead the Chargers to  13-3 record and led the Chargers to 11 straight victories to end the season) received 2 votes, Brett Favre ( who threw for 33 TDs and led the Vikings to a 12-4 record) received 1 vote and Chris Johnson, who rushed for over 2000yds didn’t receive a single vote.  Manning was the most deserving candidate to win this award; he led the Colts to a 14-2 record (starting the season 14-0), and the only reason they lost two was the Colts pulled their starters early in both of their games since their coach wanted to rest them for the playoffs. Manning ( who threw for 4500 yds, 33 Tds led the Colts to 7 comeback victories this season. By having the season he has had, Manning was elected to his 10th Pro Bowl and passed for over 4000yds for the 10th time in a season. (most all time) Jim Caldwell (Colts head coach) had this to say about Manning, “He’s been such a highly accomplished performer year in and year out. Just when you think you’ve seen his best, he improves upon it,” said Jim Caldwell. One of the main reasons Manning won was that he threw for over4500yds, 33 TDs without his number 2 wide-out for the entire season (Anthony Gonzalez, who went out with a knee injury in week 1 and missed the rest of the season) and Manning also threw for these numbers with extreme pressure on the passing game since their running game was dead last in the NFL. The other candidates were impressive this season, but no one compared to Manning. Manning looks to not only win the MVP, but to win the Super Bowl!
